The outboard engine-powered sportboats that were once popular in the 1970s and 1980s have mostly disappeared, replaced by models with inboard engines and stern drives. However, the Active Thunder 33 Evolution is changing that trend with its twin 300hp Yamaha four-stroke outboards. This Florida-built sportboat has been around since 1997, but its latest model is the first with outboard power. The owner plans to tow the 33 Evolution behind his Nordhavn yacht and use it as a tender for getting around while he lives on the yacht. During the first sea trial, the boat reportedly reached an impressive 72.3 mph, with the potential to reach 75 mph with different propellers. The Active Thunder 33 Evolution is an exciting and unique addition to the sportboat market.
